The estimated southern limit of Cape Lechwe range within the Eastern Cape Province seems to have been the central plateau that is the South African Highveld, in the environs of Cradock and Tarkastad.
Episode 1 of the first series kicked off with two ladies from the South East of Johannesburg, Estie Matheus and Michelle Jordan, jointly winning and having to share the prizes and concluded with a celebrity special featuring M-Net presenter Ashley Hayden, SuperSport’s Neil Andrews, 94.7 Highveld Stereo’s Samantha Cowen and model Sashni Naidoo.
There are two sources of the river, one in the Highveld north of Mbabane forming the Black Mbuluzi and one in the Middleveld near Manzini forming the White Mbuluzi or imbuluzane.
Ratanda was one of the first townships to be affected by unrest which broke out in 1984 on the highveld.
Past well-known rectors of the parish have included Fr Gonville ffrench-Beytagh, who later became Dean of Johannesburg and was subsequently deported by the apartheid government in 1972, Fr Robin Roy Snyman who became Dean of Kimberley and later Vice-Provost of Port Elizabeth and Bishop David Albert Beetge who became the first bishop of The Highveld.
