The first feature-length animated film made in the country is Amazon Symphony, produced by Anélio Lattini Filho in 1953.

Piconzé is another milestone in Brazilian animation, the first colored animation feature film produced in the country (debuted in theaters in 1972), made by the Japanese cartunist Ypê Nakashima (1926-1974), who immigrated to Brazil in 1956 and worked with advertising animation.
