Ernst Friedrich Wilhelm Klinkerfues (29 March 1827 in Hofgeismar – 28 January 1884 in Göttingen) was a German astronomer.

Klinkerfues was born in Hofgeismar, the son of army doctor Johann Reinhard Klinkerfues and his wife Sabine (née Dedolph).
In 1448 Henry III of Brunswick-Grubenhagen had to fortify himself in the castle, after he exposed himself to attack by Landgrave Louis I of Hesse following a raid in the area of Hofgeismar.

Returning to Germany, he served with Armoured Brigade 6, stationed in Hofgeismar, Hesse, in 1989, before being appointed Chief of Staff for 4 Panzergrenadier Division, based in Erfurt, Thuringia.
