The Goannas home ground is Gipps Road Oval located in the western Sydney suburb of Greystanes, part of the local city of Holroyd.
The local government area takes its name from Arthur Holroyd, first Mayor of the area, local landowner and businessman.

Originally known as the Municipality of Prospect and Sherwood it was incorporated in February 1872; and in 1927 it was renamed the Municipality of Holroyd after Arthur Holroyd, the first mayor.
