On 27 October 2008 the band split up, a month after having to cancel gigs that they were due to undertake with Hot Club de Paris, in late September and early October.
Their second album Live at Dead Lake was released in June 2008 and they released an EP titled With Days Like This As Cheap As Chewing Gum, Why Would Anyone Want To Work? in 2010.
Brown's music inspired the great string jazz musicians from Europe, Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grapelli who in 1935 formed the Hot Club de Paris quintet.

They recorded with the record producer Mark Williams (Biffy Clyro, Bloc Party, Fightstar, Nine Black Alps, Million Dead, Ghymp) at the Battery Studios in London and they toured with Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, Hot Club De Paris and The Rumble Strips, as well as also playing with bands including The Futureheads, Melt Banana, The Young Knives, Make Believe and Foals.
However, many notable acts have played at the Zanzibar such as Brendan Benson, The Coral, The Zutons, The Seal Cub Clubbing Club, James Walsh, Noel Gallagher, Hot Club de Paris, Shack, Candie Payne and Tom Vek.
