An IAR 330 SOCAT helicopter, belonging to the 90th Airlift Base, crashed on November 7, 2007, in Ungheni, 30 km south of Piteşti, Argeş County, during a night training mission, killing all three crew members.

It is currently the home of the 861st, 862nd Fighter squadrons (operating MiG-21 LanceRs) and of the 863rd Helicopter squadron - located at the Mihail Kogălniceanu Airport (operating IAR-330Ls).
