Hestnæs stepped in as session bass guitarist when Nagash left the band to fully concentrate on The Kovenant; he was, until late August 2009, the permanent replacement on bass and a full member of Dimmu Borgir.
Several well-known musicians began their careers in the Langhus area during the mid to late 1980s, playing at the local practice room, including the black metal band Mayhem and black metal artist Simen Hestnæs.

This release featured new keyboardist Mustis and the clean vocals of ICS Vortex (who would later join the band full-time), as well as the departure of long-time drummer Tjodalv, guitarist Astennu, and bassist Nagash.
