Gomia took shape around the year 1956, when the Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI as its popularly known as), set up commercial explosives (IEL) factory here.

In mid-1999, the IEL factory went into the hands of Orica.
However, Bell Resources was not able to buy its parent, due to share raids being made on Bell Resources by Kerry Packer, Adelaide Steamship Company (under John Spalvins) and IEL (Ron Brierley).
The following season Starke moved to Yugoslavia to play for HK Vojvodina of the IEL and Yugoslavian League.
2005/06 was with Székesfehérvár of the IEL, then back to Zilina in 06/07 before being transferred to Podhale Nowy Targ of Poland, which won the Polish championship.
