The Indian Institute of Information Technology, Sri City, Chittoor District Andhra Pradesh is one of the 20 new IIITs approved by the Central, State Government & Industry with an outlay of Rs 2,808.71 crore, during 2010.
IIIT-B is in Electronics City, Bangalore, which is one of India's largest electronic industrial parks and which houses major electronics and IT corporations that include Infosys, Wipro, Siemens, Hewlett-Packard, General Electric, and Flextronics, amongst others.

IIIT-B is managed by a Governing Body with S Gopalakrishnan (Kris), executive co-chairman, Infosys Ltd., as the chairperson.
This time the name of Alamoudi had been replaced by the name of Dr. Jamal al Barzinji, who is also notable as a vice president of the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT).
