Idriss Arnaoud Ali (born 1945), President of the National Assembly of Djibouti
Moungar's tenure in office was marked by confrontation with the President over the pace for adopting a multiparty political system, a confrontation that a Chadian journalist dates from June, when during a presidential visit to France Idriss Déby noted that Moungar was highly regarded by the French government.
However, the trial did permit various opponents of the Françafrique to testify: Ngarlejy Yorongar, opponent of Hissène Habré and then Idriss Déby, who spoke of the "eleven times" he was arrested and "tortured" during Déby's eight-years long rule.
Idriss was a musician in dance orchestras on radio and recordings and in films, and also wrote television scripts and special material for the Ritz Brothers, Eddie Cantor, Jimmy Durante and Marion Hutton.

Moulay Idriss established the eponymous town of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun on a nearby hillside in 789 but was assassinated in Volubilis in 791 on the orders of the caliph of Baghdad, Harun al-Rashid.

The American writer Edith Wharton visited in 1920 and highlighted what she saw as the contrast between "two dominations looking at each other across the valley", the ruins of Volubilis and "the conical white town of Moulay Idriss, the Sacred City of Morocco".
