In September 1939, when Poland has been attacked by Germany, Schally escaped with the Poland's President Ignacy Mościcki, Prime Minister and the whole cabinet to then neutral Romania, where they were interned.
In 1929, Ignacy Mościcki, president of the Second Polish Republic, visited the church.
During his time in office, he made a state visit to Poland in February 1930, where he met both President Ignacy Mościcki and Marshal Józef Piłsudski to form a Baltic Entente, that didn't however find Polish support.

After the annexation of Zaolzie region to Poland in 1938, President Ignacy Mościcki named him a deputy of the Silesian Parliament, where Paszek was a deputy until the outbreak of World War II.
