After his retirement Rubins started coaching kids and youngsters in Ikšķile.
The Christians fled to their strongholds at Üxküll and Holm, while the bishop escaped in a ship to Lübeck.
The municipality was formed in 2004 by reorganization of Ikšķile town with its countryside territory the administrative centre being Ikšķile.
