The only other young specimen in Warriston Cemetery was inadvertently poisoned in 2013 during spraying of weed-killer to control invasive Himalayan Balsam.
The Source to Sea and Wiltshire Invasive Species projects proactively seek out areas affected by invasive species, such as Himalayan balsam and Japanese knotweed, removing and disposing of these damaging non-native plants.

Also noted at the site are green figwort, Brooklime speedwell, wild angelica, opposite-leaved golden saxifrage, green alkanet, reed canarygrass, giant hogweed, bishopweed, celandine, and Himalayan balsam.
