From 1997-2000 under his tenure, Ole Miss appeared in four straight bowl games: the 1997 Motor City Bowl, the 1998 Independence Bowl, the 1999 Independence Bowl, and the 2000 Music City Bowl.
The band's appearances have included: the Kentucky Derby (1939), the Presidential Inaugural Parade (1953), the Rose Bowl (1968), the Holiday Bowl (1979), the All-American Bowl (1986), the Peach Bowl (1988 and 1990), the Liberty Bowl (1988), the Copper Bowl (1991), the Independence Bowl (1993), and the Insight Bowl (2007).
As a freshman, Attaochu played in all 12 games and started in the Independence Bowl.
Following the 2012 season, Louisiana–Monroe was invited to play in the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, LA.
When former Minnesota head coach Lou Holtz left the Golden Gophers to coach at Notre Dame, assistant John Gutekunst was tapped to coach the Golden Gophers in the 1985 Independence Bowl.
