The title and the name of the house refer to the ancient Royal Forest of Inglewood.
The honour was also known as "The Queen's Hames" due to the fact the manors were often given to a Queen consort on her marriage or at the death of the previous consort.
Inglewood Inn was founded in 1857 and named after Inglewood Forest in Cumberland, England.
