Claddaghduff is known for its deep sea angling, lake fishing, boat trips to Inishturk and Inishbofin, pony trekking, pitch & putt, dive sites, beaches and historical tours.
Circa 1855, George Browne sold the island to Henry William Wilberforce.
Members of the Lawless family of Connacht would later hold lands "in the west of County Mayo, broadly in the area between Castlebar and Westport, with claims on Inishbofin and Inishark and a relationship with the Manor of Loughrea in County Galway. It is in these general areas that bearers of the name are still to be found in the 21st century." (p. 91, Martyn, 2011).
The territory contains the five Catholic parishes of An Clochán (Clifden, Omey & Ballindoon), Iorras Ainbhtheach (Carna), Cloch na Rón/(Roundstone), Baile na Cille (Ballynakill) and Inis Bó Fine/(*Inishbofin (County Galway).
