In the meantime IRE trains with former IR coaches ran on the Saarbrücken–Kaiserslautern–Ludwigshafen–Mannheim route for a year, a route now worked by the more usual Regional-Express services.
The station is a 23 minute (RegioExpress Glarner Sprinter), 29 minute (InterRegio), 34 minute (S2), 43 minute (S5) respectively 42 minute (S8) ride from Zürich Hauptbahnhof.

Frauenfeld railway station supports a regional train, part of the Zürich S-Bahn, from Weinfelden to Winterthur (S8 and S30) every 30 minutes, as well in the opposite direction and a fast train (InterCity and InterRegio) that travels to Zurich every 30 minutes, as well in the opposite direction to Weinfelden and further to Constance in Germany or Romanshorn.
Since the timetable change on 10 December 2006, the Franken-Sachsen-Express Interregio-Express service operates on the line, using class 612 diesel multiple units (DMUs), from Nuremberg via Bayreuth or Marktredwitz to Hof, continuing via Chemnitz to Dresden, replacing an InterCity service.
