During the second day of Inti Raymi (or Sun Festival) every summer solstice, indigenous shaman use Cuicocha as a bath for ritual cleansing and purification.
On The 21st of June 2007 an "Ancestral meeting for the arrival of new times" was held on Puñay to celebrate Inti Raymi which marks the winter solstice.
In June, Salasaca people celebrate the harvest festival called Inti Raymi that is celebrated in all Quechua communities of the Highlands (Sierra).
