The Greek name of Crimea was Tauris and in mythology it was the home of the tribes who took Iphigenia prisoner in Euripides' play Iphigenia in Tauris.
The drama is ultimately based on the play Iphigenia in Tauris by the ancient Greek dramatist Euripides which deals with stories concerning the family of Agamemnon in the aftermath of the Trojan War.
In 1915 she played with her husband's company at Wallack's Theatre in New York City in Androcles and the Lion, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Anatole France's The Man Who Married a Dumb Wife (translated by Curtis Page), and The Doctor's Dilemma, and at various colleges in outdoor performances of Euripedes' The Trojan Women and Iphigenia in Tauris.
Both were completed by early 1516 and are based on classical Greek models, Rosmunda on the Hecuba of Euripides, and Oreste on the Iphigenia in Tauris of the same author; like Sophonisba, they are in Italian and in blank (unrhymed) hendecasyllables.
