In 1919, Javakhishvili succeeded the noted chemist Petre Melikishvili as the second rector of the university: he served until June 1926, when, in the aftermath of anti-Soviet August Uprising of 1924, tolerance of non-Marxist intellectuals began to contract.
Was graduated Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU), Faculty of Economics (1977)and post-graduate courses of same university (1980).
Other founders of this University were outstanding Georgian scientists Ivane Javakhishvili, Ekvtime Takaishvili, Shalva Nutsubidze, Akaki Shanidze, Giorgi Akhvlediani, Andria Razmadze, Iosif Kipshidze, Petre Melikishvili, etc.
On this ground, the Georgian historian Ivane Javakhishvili (1950) considered Tabal, Tubal, Jabal and Jubal to be an early Kartvelian tribal designation.
