In Norse mythology, according to the Gylfaginning, Annar (Old Norse Annarr 'second, another') is the father of Jörð (Mother Earth) by Nótt (the Night).
In chapter 24 of Skáldskaparmál, means of referring to Jörð, the personified earth, are provided, including "sister of Auðr" and "sister of Dagr", the personified day.
Some 19th-century scholars theorized that Meili's mother is Jörð, a goddess and the personified Earth.
