Jürgen Rohwer

Jürgen Rohwer (born 24 May 1924 in Friedrichroda, Thuringia in Germany) is a German naval military historian and Professor of history at the University of Stuttgart.

During World War II, between 1942-1945, he served on several German warships, e.g. the destroyer Z-24, the Sperrbrecher 104/Martha, and the minesweeper M-502.

Soviet submarine Shch-213

Initially it was believed a stray mine had sunk Struma, but in the 1960s the German historian Jürgen Rohwer established that SC-213 had done so.
