Parisé was best known in the series for nearly attacking unpopular referee Josef Kompalla with his stick in the eighth game after Kompalla had handed out a series of questionable penalties against the Canadians.
Parise's father, J. P. Parisé, was a professional ice hockey player who played for Team Canada at the 1972 Summit Series, and his brother Jordan Parise is a professional hockey goaltender.
