Again, when the new AIADMK government came to power in 2011, the current Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, through the Governor Surjit Singh Barnala's address to the assembly, stated that the Chennai Monorail project of around 300 km will be revived and would supplement the existing metro rail systems that were implemented by the previous DMK government.
In 2011, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, J. Jayalalithaa, announced the construction of two new flyovers at Ukkadam and Athupalam to help decongest the Palakkad Road.

Later this case was to lead to the conviction of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for granting an illegal exemption to the hotel.
At this junction, Natarajan requested V. S. Chandralekha, who was then the District Collector of South Arcot, to introduce his wife Sasikala to Jayalalithaa, who was then the Propaganda Secretary of the Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.
