Ed Gardner

Born in Astoria, New York, Gardner was a representative for the J. Walter Thompson advertising agency before going into show business.

James Walter Thompson

James Walter Thompson (October 28, 1847 – October 16, 1928) was the namesake of the JWT advertising agency and a pioneer of many advertising techniques.

In 1877, Thompson bought the agency for $500 and renamed it J. Walter Thompson Company.

John B. Watson

Thanks to contacts provided by an academic colleague, E. B. Titchener, Watson subsequently began working for U.S. advertising agency J. Walter Thompson.

Linda Kaplan Thaler
