In 2013, Mittoo was referenced by Superchunk in their song "Me & You & Jackie Mittoo" from their album I Hate Music.

Mittoo assisted Toronto-area reggae musicians, including Earth, Roots and Water, Esso Jaxxon (R. Zee Jackson), Carl Harvey, Lord Tanamo, Boyo Hammond, Carl Otway, The Sattalites, Jackie James and Jason Wilson.

Lord Brynner

One of his mid-1960s recordings, "Where's Sammy Gone", featured The Wailers as backing vocalists, and he recorded several other singles in Jamaica, including "Congo War" in 1966, a collaboration with The Sheiks (featuring Jackie Mittoo and Dobby Dobson).
