Donja Badanja is a village located at the base of the mountain Cer and the low mountain Iverak, in the Jadar area.
The Runjanin family originated from the village of Runjani in Jadar, in the Drina valley (western Serbia).
His paternal cousin was Obrad Konstantinović, a voivode (military commander) in Jadar.
