He was appointed director, Naval Faculty, Jaji (1981–1984) and Flag Officer, Western Naval Command (1984–1985).
The college opened in May 1976 with two senior officers' courses based on a curriculum derived from that of British Army Staff College, Camberley.

In 1980, Wuyep attended the Junior Command and Staff College in Pakistan and from 1983 to 1984 he undertook the Senior Staff Course at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji.
After he joined the army, Yakubu Mu'azu attended the Nigerian Defense Academy and later the Young Officers’ course in Jaji.
To each jaji she bestowed a malfa (a hat and traditional ceremonial symbol of office of the pagan Bori priestesses in Gobir) tied with a red turban.
He is a graduate of the School of Infantry, Quetta, Pakistan, the Command and Staff College, Jaji, Kaduna and the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos.
