At the end of the show, the woman was given the choice of either "taking the bloke" or winning Geri Halliwell's mobile phone number, or alternatively Jason Donovan's home phone number for Australian performances, as a consolation prize.

She went on to beat 600 other applicants to present a new children's television programme for the Nine Network in Australia and went on to present a children's news programme C'mon Kids, along with Hey, Hey, It's Saturday, in which she worked with Jason Donovan.

After leaving Bucks Fizz in 1990, Preston made a career as a backing vocalist, touring and appearing with Jason Donovan, INXS, Brian May, Michael Bolton, Go West, Beverley Craven, Alexander O’Neal, Luther Vandross, Donny Osmond, Blue, Westlife, Alison Moyet, Tom Jones, David Hasselhoff, Errol Brown and Belinda Carlisle (she still occasionally performs with Carlisle).

In 1990 the pair also collaborated with singer Donovan on a novelty single release of his 1968 hit Jennifer Juniper; adopting their roles as 1960s-style folk duo The Singing Corner, the pair made spoken interjections throughout Donovan's performance, concluding with Trevor having to explain to Simon that the singer was not in fact Jason Donovan.
