The first event in the JavaZone series started out as a Sun Microsystems event in 2002, with 350 participants in the basement of Chateau Neuf, one of the main hang-outs for Oslo University students.

At the weekend following JavaZone 2010 a two-day hike to Besseggen in Norway was organized for the speakers who wanted to attend.

The tenth JavaZone conference will be held September 7-8th 2011 in Oslo Spektrum, Oslo, Norway.
