Jean Mantelet (1900–19 January 1991) was a French inventor and industrialist who founded the kitchen appliance company Moulinex.
Two patents by French designers, Jean Mantelet and Gilberte Fouineteau, were particularly influential in the early development of the product's design.

In 1971, Jean Mantelet filed a patent for a "Salad Dryer" a hand-operated, centrifugally-driven device along with another called the "Household Drying Machine" which could also be used for salads.
