She has continued her singing career and remains active across the country, not only as a member of the Grammy winning gospel group Sounds of Blackness and as a musician on many albums of other artists such as Maceo Parker, Prince, or producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, but also as the invisible voice behind many brand-name products in popular commercials of brands such as 3M, Volkswagen, Target or Ford.
The medley combines the first verse of "Never Too Far", co-written and co-produced by Carey and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, with a re-recorded version of the first verse and bridge of "Hero", written and produced by Carey and Walter Afanasieff.
She is well known for her background vocals being featured on work by Janet Jackson, Alexander O'Neal, Karyn White, New Edition, and S.O.S. Band, plus other acts produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis (as well as lead vocals on the chorus of MC Lyte's 1993 single "Ice Cream Dream").
