In 1952 George joined United Artists with Michael Todd and Joe Schenck, former president of Twentieth Century Fox, in order to form the Magna Theatre Corporation for production and distribution of Todd-AO films.
It was later owned by Joe Schenck (1878-1961), followed by Tony Curtis (1925-2010), Sonny Bono (1935-1998) and Cher, Roland Arnall (1939-2008), who added two adjacent lots to the estate.
The inaugural race, as well as the second running, was won by Herbert M. Woolf's colt Joe Schenck, named for the vaudeville star, Joseph Thuma Schenck.
