In 1992, he was presented the John Anson Ford Award by the Human Relations Commission of L.A. County.

John Anson Ford (1883–1983) helped found the L.A. County Arts Commission, encouraged the Board of Supervisors to support the building of the Music Center and led the County's acquisition of Descanso Gardens, among many other achievements.
On June 6, 1997, at the John Anson Ford Theatre in Hollywood, Woz joined Toad the Wet Sprocket on stage during the band's encore, trading verses with Toad frontman Glen Phillips, to sing a cover of David Bowie's "Ziggy Stardust".
