Botica joined the Wigan rugby league club in British league in 1990 in what was an exodus of All Black backs to rugby league including Matthew Ridge (Manly-Warringah), John Gallagher (Leeds) and John Schuster Newcastle).
The time was one where the band was seeking direction and when they could not find a drummer, guitarist John Gallagher played the drums and did the best he could so the band could get a demo out.
More recent work, starting with that of John Gallagher and Ronald Robinson in the 1950s, has questioned the traditional definition, positing instead that the two were mutually constituitive and maintaining that despite the apparent temporal inconsistencies inherent in their separate existences, each formed simultaneously in relation to the other.
His last part was in November 2008, in the world premiere of Beau Willimon's political play Farragut North (now adapted into the film Ides of March) directed by Doug Hughes (Doubt) at the Atlantic Theater Company in New York City in the dual role of Frank/Waiter opposite John Gallagher, Jr.
