At the same time in West Africa (what became Nigeria and Ghana, specifically) EMI was recording and releasing Sakara, Juju and Apala music on 78rpm discs in the Parlophone B, HMV JL, HMV JZ and Decca WA/GWA/NGA series (1947–52), as well as HMV owned local labels, such as Ghana's Taymani Special.
Future Juju was an album released by the British house act Black Jazz Chronicles in 1998.

Jùjú music, first developed by Tunde King in the 1930s, formed the basis of Prince Adekunle's music.
His play Juju Jaya Prakash, on the last king of Kathmandu Jaya Prakash Malla, was awarded the Shrestha Sirapa in 1958.
Tunde King's music influenced his contemporaries, later players such as Akanbi Ege, Ayinde Bakare, Tunde Nightingale and Ojoge Daniel in the 1940s, players in the 1960s such as King Sunny Adé and Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey, who introduced electric guitars, 1970s stars such as General Prince Adekunle and continued to have great influence into the 1980s when stars such as Sir Shina Peters and Segun Adewale were playing modern forms of Jùjú.
