In 1894 Adolf Guyer-Zeller, an engineer and one of the pioneers of the Swiss railways, founded Bank Guyerzeller A.G. to finance the construction of the railway line to the top of the Jungfrau mountain.
In 2002, Huangshan was named the "sister mountain" of Jungfrau in the Swiss Alps.
The first direct route from the valley of Lauterbrunnen was opened in 1865 by Geoffrey Winthrop Young, H. Brooke George with the guide Christian Almer.
