The club was established in 1991 as a professional part of Fredericia forenede Fodboldklubber (literally: Fredericia United) and Fredericia KFUM.
The club was founded on April 12, 1931, when 13 young boys got together in a local KFUM(Icelandic YMCA) house to form a new athletic club in the town, at the club's 3rd meeting it was decided that it would be named Knattspyrnufélagið Haukar.
2 years later in 1962 the boys contacted KFUM Södertälje (YMCA) to ask them to start a basketball section in their organisation.
