Built by San Francisco-based New Zealand engineer Ian Wright, the X1 created a stir when it bested several sports cars in a drag race, including a Carrera GT (even with a rolling start, an advantage for the gas burning vehicles), all while being filmed by local news station KRON 4.

During his career, he also worked in markets such as Memphis, Dallas-Fort Worth (KDFW), Atlanta, San Francisco (KRON), and Honolulu.
In 1998 the network was renamed Knowledge TV, and by that time was carrying several programs dealing with new media and Silicon Valley businesses, including New Media News from KRON-TV in San Francisco, and many computer education programs such as Stewart Cheifet's Computer Chronicles.
He wrote over twenty plays, and translated such classic works of world and Russian drama as "The Inspector" by Gogol, Othello and The Taming of the Shrew 'by Shakespeare, Aristocrats by Nikolai Pogodin, Spring Love by Konstantin Trenyov, and Officer of the Navy by A. Kron.
Another accomplishment of his was voicing Kron the Iguanodon in Disney's CGI film Dinosaur.
KRON was sold in 1999 and, after years of being San Francisco's NBC affiliate, became an independent station on January 1, 2002 when NBC -- tired of the DeYoungs' repeated refusal to sell KRON to the network -- purchased KNTV in San Jose from Granite Broadcasting Corporation for $230 million.
X7 The War Rafts of Kron was written by Bruce Nesmith, with a cover by Larry Elmore and interior illustrations by Jeff Butler, and was published by TSR in 1984 as a 32-page booklet with an outer folder.
