Kaiapoi

The Kaiapoi Bulldogs won their first Premiership title in 2007, the club's Jubilee 50th season.

Kaiapoi is also known as the 'River Town' after the Kaiapoi River, a tributary of the Waimakariri River that flows through the center of the town.

Les Gibbard

Gibbard was born in Kaiapoi, New Zealand; he grew up in New Zealand and learnt his trade under the tutelage of Gordon Minhinnick (himself influenced by David Low), a former political cartoonist with the New Zealand Herald.


Edward McKenna

He joined the New Zealand Railways as a clerk and soon rose to be Station Master at Kaiapoi, Ashburton, Invercargill, Gore, Greatford, Halcombe and in the early 1880s Palmerston North.

West Eyreton

It is located west of Kaiapoi and northwest of Eyreton and is named after Edward John Eyre, a 19th-century lieutenant governor of the South Island (then known as New Munster).
