He is known as a performer of mainstream classical composers such as Franz Liszt, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Domenico Scarlatti, as well as highly demanding late romantic and 20th-century composers such as Leopold Godowsky, Ferruccio Busoni, George Flynn, Roman Vlad, Paulo Troncon, Michael Finnissy and Kaikhosru Shapurji Sorabji.
He is also known for his performances of pieces by lesser known composers such as Sorabji, Reger, Honegger, Lambert and others.
Kaikhosru Shapurji Sorabji wrote of this piece in 1932 that it was familiar ... — too familiar one is tempted to say, for most people think of Alkan, indeed only know him, as the composer of ‘Le Vent’, as they know only the Sibelius of the ‘Valse Triste’ or ‘Finlandia’; the great master of ‘Le festin d'Ésope’ and the Fourth Symphony respectively being completely a terra incognita.
