He served as the head football coach at Kalamazoo College in 1910, at Iowa State Normal School—now the University of Northern Iowa—from 1919 to 1920, and at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa from 1921 to 1922, compiling a career college football record of 12–19–3.
In addition, Stroud has received honorary degrees from Eastern Michigan University (1977), Adrian College (1984), Kalamazoo College (1984), Central Michigan University (1986), Michigan State University (1987) and Olivet College.
