2 unusual facts about Kamehameha V


Moanalua Gardens

The Kamehameha V Cottage, located at the western end of the garden, was originally built in the 1850s by Prince Lot Kapuāiwa, who would later become King Kamehameha V.

The park is the site of the Kamehameha V Cottage which used to be the home of Prince Lot Kapuāiwa, who would later become King Kamehameha V.


Moanalua

Before her, since the lands were won in battle by Kamehameha I they passed from Kameʻeiamoku to Ulumāheihei Hoapili, then to Prince Lot Lot Kapuāiwa (who became King Kamehameha V), and Princess Ruth Keʻelikōlani.

USS Mohongo

During the seven‑month visit, she received on board King Kamehameha V and Dowager Queen Emma, the American Chargé d'affaires Colonel Spaulding, U.S. Minister Edward M. McCook, and other Island officials and court members in July and August, and then cruised the Hawaiian chain, making charts and patrolling into December.
