Mike and Michelle, both singers and multi-instrumental musicians, met on stage at the 1979 Kapunda Celtic Music Festival and toured Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the U.S. almost non-stop for 7 years.

The inaugural 1877 season was contested by those 12 clubs: South Park, Willunga, Port Adelaide, Adelaide, North Adelaide, Prince Alfred College, Gawler, Kapunda, Bankers, Woodville, South Adelaide and Victorian.
The line was constructed in 1857-58 to connect the Adelaide with copper resources at Kapunda and Burra, as well as to provide passenger and freight services to the new town of Gawler.
Following the war, Kapunda was used to assist the evacuation of Allied prisoners-of-war from Kuching, and was the venue for the signing of the surrender of Japanese forces in the Kuching area, with Major General Yamamura signing the instrument of surrender on board.
Kapunda Football Club, nicknamed The Bombers, is an Australian rules football club, based in Kapunda, South Australia, that competes in the Barossa Light & Gawler Football Association.

Jack Oatey Medallist and Central District Bulldogs premiership vice-captain and ruckman Jason McKenzie and former Port Adelaide Power and now Greater Western Sydney Football Club listed ruckman Jonathan Giles are also products of the Kapunda Football Club.
