Sremski Karlovci, a town and municipality in Srem, Vojvodina, Serbia
Shortly before the Revolutions of 1848 in the Habsburg areas, Matija Ban was sent from Belgrade on special missions to Novi Sad, Karlovci, Zagreb, Zadar, Dubrovnik and Cetinje.
In the second half of the 18th century, the Metropolitanate of Karlovci included a large territory that stretched from the Adriatic Sea to Bukovina and from Danube and Sava to Upper Hungary.

There was an actual place named the Triplex Confinium after the treaty of peace of Karlowitz (Sremski Karlovci) in 1699 and today it is a territory belonging to the Republics of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina (the very point where empires met was Medveđak, today Medveđa Glavica, at the top of Debelo Brdo, a mountain northeast of Knin).
