Parbatipur railway station

The Assam Behar State Railway started building westward in 1884 and by 1889, Parbatipur was connected with Katihar in Bihar.

Surajpuri language

Surajpuri (Surjapuri) is one of the eastern Indian languages mainly spoken in Bihar (Kishanganj, Katihar, Purnia, Araria), north Bengal, eastern Nepal and north western Bangladesh.It has significant similarities with both Hindi and Bengali languages.


Anga

Based on Mahabharata evidence, the kingdom of the Angas roughly corresponded to the districts of Bhagalpur, Banka, Purnia, Munger, Katihar and Jamui in Bihar and districts of Deoghar, Godda, and Sahebganj in Jharkhand; later extended to include Malda and Uttar Dinajpur in Bengal.

Mogalhat railway station

In pre-independence days, a metre gauge line running via Radhikapur, Biral, Parbatipur, Tista, Gitaldaha and Golokganj connected Fakiragaram in Assam with Katihar in Bihar.

Rangiya railway station

It reached Katihar in 1888-89 and in 1909 it reached Amingaon on the banks of the Brahmaputra, which could be crossed by ferry to reach Guwahati.
