His highest political office before appointed as the Sarawak PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat) liaison chief was a supreme council member of Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS).
Ms Wong, a bespectacled, single 37-year-old, is a noted member of the Keadilan party, whose leader Anwar Ibrahim, steers the three-member Pakatan Rakyat opposition alliance.
The Barisan Nasional candidate for the constituency, S. Murugeson was defeated by the candidate from the Justice Party, Sivarasa Rasiah.
His resignation from Keadilan followed the instigation of disciplinary action against him by the party after he criticised Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng from the party's Pakatan Rakyat coalition partner the Democratic Action Party.
