The two characters appear in the form of the stereotypical Kelvinside housewife, with the same pretensions and turns of phrases.
Their repertoire of songs included "Kelvinside Men", a tribute to the area in the west end of Glasgow where the characters were based; "Marks & Spencers", a song about their favourite shop; and "We Knew Her So Well", a bitchy tribute to the biggest star that ever shone in the Kelvinside sky, Renie Roberts.
Exceptions to this were those better-off pupils who had passed the entry tests for, and were going to, Glasgow fee-paying schools like Hutchesons' Grammar (Hutchie), Glasgow High, Kelvinside Academy, Glasgow Academy, St. Aloysuis' College, Notre Dame, Park and Laurel Bank etc.
Kelvinbridge is also used to refer to the area in the neighbourhood of the bridge, encompassing parts of the districts of Woodside, Woodlands, Kelvinside and Hillhead.
Kelvinside Hillhead Parish Church is a parish church of the Church of Scotland, serving the Hillhead and Kelvinside areas of Glasgow, Scotland.
The facility is the only one in Glasgow and the West of Scotland to be formally designated as a Barracks, although there are several other Territorial Army Centres in the area, including 32 (Scottish) Signal Regiment at Kelvinside, 105 Regiment, Royal Artillery in Partick, the 4th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment at Finnieston and Glasgow and Strathclyde Universities Officer Training Corps in Hillhead.
