The Church arose out of a Sunday School and youth club by Mr Dyer, who cycled weekly from Keynsham to run the clubs.
It was established in 2002 in memory of Cardiff born Paul-André Blundell (known to his friends as P.A.) who, during an away rugby match for Keynsham RFC in September 2001, sustained a SCI leaving him instantly paralysed from the chin down and unable to breathe for himself.

The B&DFL operates within a 12 mile radius of Bath and whilst the majority of its clubs are based in Bath there are teams from Keynsham and outer suburbs of Bristol as well as some of the smaller outlying villages around Bath.
