Kimbolton was fortified by Geoffrey de Mandeville and afterwards passed to the families of Bohun and Stafford.
Kimbolton School is a British HMC co-educational independent day and boarding school located in the village of Kimbolton, in rural Huntingdonshire in Cambridgeshire, educating approximately 950 boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 18, with boarding starting at age 11.

On average, at least 2 members of each year group go on to join one of the British Armed Forces; the school has a long-standing tradition of inviting one of these Old Kimboltonians back to the take the salute on Remembrance Sunday each year as the Contingent marches through Kimbolton.
Originally, the road travelled directly through the outskirts of the village, nearer to the River Kym to the north.
The soil and climate in the area is ideal for rhododendrons and there are two rhododendron gardens in the area, including the former garden of the New Zealand Rhododendron Association, which was largely built by John Stuart Yeates, now called Heritage Park.
After his marriage in 1827 to Caroline Esther Curzon daughter of Lord Scarsdale they lived at Aston Lodge in Aston-on-Trent for a while before he took up the challenge of running the estate near Kimbolton in Bedfordshire.
